Since the 1960s and 70s, artists have been intensely using their bodies in performance, video, and photography. This seminar will focus on the intersection of the body as used in the art object. We will discuss the body as a means of critiquing identity through the use of depictions involving humor, desire, and violence, among others.
This conversation-based class is open to everyone, no matter their knowledge, exposure, or participation with the art world. Artists discussed will be: Marina Abramovic and Ulay, Chris Burden, Erwin Wurm, Yoko Ono, Jennifer Locke, Laurel Nakadate, Nikki Lee, Ana Mendieta, Annie Sprinkle, Nao Bustamante, and William Pope.L.

L’Ecole Des Beaux Arts is a Brooklyn based, artist-run crafts & arts workshop. For the last few months Picture Farm Gallery has been offering its space on weekends to this neighborhood program, regularly providing an alternative to watching T.V., browsing the internet and feeling depressed about the weather.
